Come to a joint event with AS3 Apex and Flex and Fuse the Arch for a night with Joey Lott. Now things are still in the works, but I am very pleased to announce Joey Lott “hopefully” will be presenting for AS3 Apex in October. For any of you who are unfamiliar with Joey’s work there is a not so small list of links for you at the bottom.
Now before this meeting can happen our user group needs a new location for this event per request of Joey. So I am calling you the community to help out and donate a location for this event. If you can help please write me at josh@gfxcomplex.com or just post a reply in this blog post with a way that I can contact you.

In the spirit of consistency AS3 Apex will now conduct it’s meeting on every second Saturday of the month at 6pm at kayaks coffee house unless other wise noted.

First Thank you all who came to the first user group meeting. Sadly attendance was small. To help promote attendance for future meetings we will start a raffle for a free software package ever 6 months. All attendees will get their name and email added to the raffle for ever time they show to the meetings. Come this December we will draw for the first winner of an Adobe Creative Suite 3.3 Web Premium package worth $1,599. Also we should have a few books to give away at our next meeting. Maybe we will have a few fun games to win them.
Also due to overwhelming background noise the recording of the first user group meeting has been trashed. We now know what to address the next time around and will assure you that there will be a recording for later viewing.
Plus we are happy to announce that there will be a online meeting via adobe connect every month as well. At the moment the exact dates for our meeting have not been chosen yet but will be announce very soon.
And as a final reminder, Please stop by the forums for your 24 hour a day user group needs.

I believe that flash is on it’s last leg out here in st.Louis due to the lack of properly trained AS3 developers or just the lack of their presents.
I will start by stating I wish to be a part of a community that thrives on ideas and networking.
At the moment St.Louis has nether for flash developers.
Recruiters are running ramped with unethical practices. Most agencies don’t know enough about Flash technologies to really harness their potential. And to top it all off there is a genuine lack of real enthusiasm for our industry in St.Louis. I hope to change all of that!
If your a Flash, Flex or Air developer you will only be helping your own career by contributing to this Action script user group in some way or form, be it time, money equipment, location, ideas or at the very least attending the user group.
So if you would like to see this user group continue please post a comment as to why you thing this is a good idea. Maybe you think it’s a bad idea, any way post your thoughts as it will decide the future of this user group.

Come and join us for our first meeting about the tools of the trade. I will be presenting about the different ways you can make and use AS3 and as well why each different way is best in their own way. This will be a perfect time for any one who is new to Action script to come and learn as well if you have been using flash for years I will be showing a few things that you may have never seen before. I will also be showcasing Arthropod which is a great new AIR application for debug tracing.
Also if you didn’t know I will be broadcasting this meeting live on the front page.
the bad news is this time around I can only support 30 people at a time since flash media servers needed to broadcast are not cheep. If you would like to donate some money to upgrade our flash media server to support more live connections please paypal it to josh@gfxcomplex.com. Even Then the meeting will be recorded for later viewing available to all.

I am please to announce that the first monthly meeting will be coming soon. The topic of the first meeting will be “tools of the trade”. We will have a presentation about all the tools known for creating flash content. I decided this will be a proper topic for people that may come who are new to AS3 and want to learn how to use it. This will be a short meeting mostly to introduce the user group and find out the interests of the members.
